Goodbye Week. Hello Weekend. Lessons Learned: Take 74.

A peek into my world this week.
Goodbye yummy paella that turned out better than expected - first time's a charm.
Goodbye toffee deliveries, sent Christmas cards, and wrapped gifts - all done!
Goodbye new haircut with a new stylist; it's so hard to grow-out bangs but I'm doing it.
Goodbye taking forever to put together my new office furniture; Super Hubby keeps asking to help but I'm determined to do it myself (so foolish).
Goodbye thoughts and prayers to my Grandmother in the hospital as we wait and see the next steps after her two heart attacks.

Hello praying surgery is not necessary for my Grandmother to fix her blocked arteries.
Hello keeping close to the phone and hoping for good news.
Hello spending time with the family and slowing things down a bit.
Hello to The Hobbit - sadly, not so sure we can fit in this flick this weekend.
Hello to you, beloved LOVD reader, and wishing you a peaceful weekend as the Big Day draws near.

The lesson I learned this week is the importance of saying "no". It's the holidays and there's an opportunity to volunteer the time you don't have to give away at every turn. Don't try to please everyone and commit to things that are going to be burdensome to you later. When you say "no", the bad feeling of disappointing another only lingers with you, not the one you said "no" to. That person has moved on, not giving you or your polite decline a second thought, so why should you?

I hope everything goes ok for your Grandmother! I don't think we're going to be able to see the Hobbit in this weekend, either - I'm so jealous that people have seen it already. And I agree - there is an important lesson in learning to say no. One that is so hard to learn.

Suzan, Thanks it was pretty good! But, you would not have enjoyed it. We went the seafood route combined with chicken. Seafood was shrimp. clams, and mussels. (I know you're probably saying yuck right now)
